Have you thought about hosting a #visioning day to help clarify and renew your organisation’s #purpose and core business?

This year I kicked off with a number of #consultancy projects. Energising among them was the work I did with #London Live #nottinghill, a young charity that is seeking to leverage its difference to make a difference in the community.

This was a 6-hour #inclusiveleadership session where #vision#mission and #values were aligned to ensure a dynamic #culture to drive #corebusiness#inspire#innovative#leadership, and #focus on #growth. What was thrilling were the fresh insights, perspectives and ideas that were shooting from all sides of this very #diverse team. The beauty of a diverse team is that its #diversethinking emanates from very different #cultural backgrounds, #education and #politics. Their passion for the cause challenges the stagnancy of tradition and the legacy of the status quo. Mediocracy is not an option.

Here are some of the questions I asked and facilitated activities around:

   ⁃   What do we stand for?
   ⁃   What relationships do we value over all else?
   ⁃   What kind of relationships do we desire for each other and our community?
   ⁃   What values should drive our vision and mission?

👉🏿VISION
   ⁃   Where are we going, moving forward?
   ⁃   What do we want to achieve in the future, within the next 5 years?
   ⁃   What kind of future community do we envision?

👉🏿MISSION
   ⁃   What do we do as our core business today?
   ⁃   Whom do we serve?
   ⁃   What are we trying to accomplish
   ⁃   What impacts do we want to achieve?

👉🏿CULTURAL PERSONALITY
   ⁃   What is the cultural personality that we desire for our organisation?
   ⁃   How is this cultural personality reflective of the community we serve?
   ⁃   How do we nurture this cultural personality for sustainable growth?

To work these questions and themes properly through takes a lot of to-ing and fro-ing. It requires patient listening, being prepared to be wrong, being predisposed to tweak your views and an egalitarian spirit to yield to another’s view.
