Sir Mark Rowley, the MET’s Chief Commissioner, has refused to name it and claim it. So, can he action it?
The Metropolitan Police has been charged with #institutional#racism, #sexism and #homophobia some 24 years after the same charge. Harrowing evidence has been given, but Sir Mark Rowley won’t name it.
The power of #naming is to capture the full extent of the #meaning. If you can’t name it, you can’t adequately deal with it. In fact, it will continue to have power over you. Name it and you contain it. Then you can shame it, deal with it and redeem it.
The #police are public servants who need our sacred trust. This is the terms of our social contract. What good are they if we can’t trust them?
I was in a special advisory meeting last week held by the Metropolitan Police, and we discussed this very thing. I want to see change. In fact, that’s the tagline of my company, Rockstone Consultancy: People. Value. Change.
Sir Mark Rowley, call it out for what it is. It’s not party political to name it! Take courage. Name it. Claim it. Action it!
