Since the beginning of this month, I’ve been running a series of #leadership#masterclasses#workshops for senior and middle leaders of a middle-size #corporation. I began with this quote from Sir Maurice Flanagan, founding CEO of Emirates, “Some are born leaders, some achieve leadership, and some have leadership thrust upon them” (It’s a takeoff Shakespeare’s quote from The Tempest about ‘#greatness’.)

My main point is, whichever way you’ve become a leader, it is now a call on your life! As such, it is not about #power or control. It is about #serving others and helping them to achieve their #goals. It is about creating a #vision and #inspiring others to follow it. It is about making your difference make a #difference in your corner of the world.

The 10 main themes across the 5 sessions are:

  •  You’re called because you have an emotional investment in the work
  • You’re called because others have affirmed your leadership
  • You’re called because you continue to learn from mentors
  • You’re called to draw from your strengths (and weaknesses), experiences and background
  • You’re called because your character has been refined in obscurity
  • You’re called because you value hard work
  • You’re called because you have a sustainable vision for your work
  • You’re called to bring others beside you to compensate for your weaknesses
  • You’re called because you are being equipped with the tools you need
  • You’re called because you trust people

We’re halfway through, and the motivation and team building has shot through the roof. I myself am re-energised and buzzing!!

This is a power-packed series (with workbooks, role-play, reflective learning, reading, online development scoring, videos, discussions and PPT) that I have perfected over time and I can’t wait to deliver the next session. If you’d like to learn more about this for your own role or team, please let me know and we can have a chat about taking it forward.
