A highlight of my break in August was a visit with my friend Gregory L. Cuellar, Ph.D. We met in a pub in New Cross, South London, and were able to share some precious stories of where our yearning for the betterment of #humanity has led us.
Gregory, without articulating it as such, is in the work of #Diversity, #Inclusion, #Equity, and #Belonging. But he takes it to a whole other level. (He might just say that he’s in the work of #humanitarian#justice!)
You see, Gregory lives near the Texas–Mexico border in the US, where he witnesses first-hand the tortuous journey of migrant families. What stayed with me though is his recounting of his periodic visits to the Detention Facilities that ‘caged’ unaccompanied children. Watch the short clip and see how Gregory seeks to restore the humanity and dignity of these young kids.
By giving voices to the kids who are often portrayed as #illegal#immigrants and #criminal#aliens we can see in their drawings their desire for survival as human beings with feelings and visions of a more inclusive world.
My team at Rockstone Consultancy will be doing some work with some Social Workers in a Children’s Department. I have so much respect for their work! I just want you to know that this is the spirit of belonging that gets me out of my bed every day to help organisations stay in touch with their humanity.
